Dear Dear Miss Hancock... Forgive Me....
poetic response to "The Metaphor"by Budge Wilson
dear dear Miss Hancockbehind those crazy hair and colors
i see you were one of the great sunflowers
when i had a great sunflower in front of me
i chose the rose, but i realize that the thorns of it are going to prick me hard one day
i really wish i didn't know that fact, but truths are meant to be known
i don't think i can hold on with this guilt i carry in me
i wish i had chosen you....
dear dear Miss Hancock
your heart is beautiful as a peacock
when I look at those feathers with shades of shiny blue and green
I see how great you have been
how beautifully it defines your delicate, lovely heart
i see how your heart makes you shine
i really wish wish everybody could see it through my eyes
dear dear Miss Hancock
I had you close to me but i didn't care
you waited for me
but i chose not to meet your eyes
when i had that chance
now how will I ever forgive myself.
dear dear Miss Hancock
but now that you are gone from my life
i realize what slipped away from my hand
i feel so lost and unsuccessful
everything I've gained by ignoring you doesn't seem so great anymore
forgive me
dear dear Miss Hancock
i am not getting any support or encouragement from anyone
to calm me down, or to make me feel better
i have only those sour memories of myself with you on these last days
why leave me so soon
i didn't get time to erase my mistakes from your memories
forgive me
good use of repetitive structures for effect in your poem. I think your comparisons of Miss Hancock with a peacock and flower worked
